Ubuntu Installation
Installation for Ubuntu Server.
How to install a server you may ask?
It is a very easy process if you can answer and follow these questions!
1. What is your computers supported architecture?
Meaning is it 32x or 64x bit architecture, you can find out by doing either of the following steps through Windows 7
Click on Start -> type dxdiag then press enter.
Or
By pressing Windows Key + R; type diag then press enter
It will say either 32x or 64 under “Operating System”
2. Finding the compatible download file (ISO/Image)
Now Head on over to Official Ubuntu Download Link and choose your flavor (Known as 64x or 32x in this case)
3. Installing it to removable hardware such as a USB (Who uses CD’s?!?)
The best tool for installing almost anything Linux/Unix based to USB is UNetbootin you can download it from that link, its free. (Make sure you download it for the OS you are using to put the Ubuntu Image on)
Once you install unetbootin select the radio button that says “Disk Image” and use the “file selector” get select your ISO image you downloaded earlier.
Allow it to format the drive and begin installing the image to the usb.
You will be prompted to reboot, reboot!
4. Booting in through BIOS
You should now be able to boot and install Ubuntu from your USB drive, though you may first need to specify the USB drive in the boot order of your BIOS. It can be done by pressing either Esc, F1, F2, F12 or Del.
5. Installing your Ubuntu Server
The rest is easy, Ubuntu walks you through step by step and asks you how you would like to customize your new server!
